How can garments be presented in anive and non-tokenising way?
This series of videos sequences explores this question. The physical body is hidden. Nonetheless a sense of embodiment remains, as the garments are shaped by the invisible figure it envelopes.
Showing a model, human or digital, means making a choice about their shape, height, ethnicity, gender and ability. The resulting avatar will cater to a specific group of people and exclude many others. This led Cooper to exploring ways of presenting garments without showing the avatar. With this method one does not have to choose gender nor ethnicity. However, it does not avoid considerations of shape and ability.
